Can You Hear Me Now?
I need to file a report because I think aliens have abducted my kid and replaced him with a look alike. Turner had an appointment this morning to get his hearing checked. I was dreading every minute of it. I figured I'd throw away a $50 copay for him to scream and cry and not even get to take the test. Boy was I wrong. First, they refunded my copay because we had a credit on our account! Then, they quickly called us back. Turner said he didn't want to go, but he didn't fight it when I pick him up and carried him back. The girl that was going to do his hearing test started to look in his ears. He flinched and whined, but sat still and didn't cry. Then she wanted to do his hearing test. Instead of just sticking a tube that blows air into his ear, she talked to him for a little bit, then let it blow on his hands to show him that it wouldn't hurt. She said she was going to tickle his ears with it and he actually sat still and let her! Then she asked if he wanted to listen to her music. He said yeah. She put an ear phone in his ear and he got to hold the digital control and watch the lines on the screen move. By this point he actually got out of my lap and was standing up doing it all own his own. He did that for both ears. I just couldn't believe it. Next, we met with the Nurse Practitioner. She looked again in his ears and said they were both good and he passed both of his hearing tests. WOO HOO! Not only is this exciting because he's o.k., but he made one giant step forward by actually allowing them to do all of this (all while clinching his own Dr. kit). On the way out they gave him a sticker. It had none other than Lightning McQueen on it. He was so excited because that was his favorite! We could not have had a better visit. I was so proud of him that I took him to McDonald's and ate breakfast with him before he went to Gwen's for the day.
